Going Live!

So i've been typing here for over a year, but been scared to share.  Not really sure why and what my concern is but I have fear.  Well time to concur the fear and here goes NOTHING!!!  Here's alittle about me, now that I'm putting myself out there.

I am Ashten!  I am married to my wonderful high school sweetheart, whom I affectionately call my Handsome Hubby! (HH)  I use other pet names for him, along with run of the mill Chris.  He is a very loving and supportive man.  Who is always coming to me with great ideas and research projects for this blog.

I have my bachelors degree in Finance from one of the universities in Utah.  I was raised in Utah county and we now live closer to the city.  I am TOTALLY a city girl through and through.  We started building a home just over a year ago, and it was an AMAZING experience.

We have two amazing boys Liam 7 and Ewan 2.  They both are totally AMAZING and I love my little Irish/Scottish men! They challenge me every day and I am so grateful to have them.

I work full time in a financial job.  It is not quite my dream job, but it's getting there. I have been here for just over a year and am going through the ranks to work with clients in the capacity I want.  For now I'm learning so much, getting lots of tests out of the way and licenses in hand. And as Liam would put it I "help people with monees"

When I was young I always wanted to be a stay at home mom (SAHM) however after staying home with my Liam for 10 months (I worked nights PT) I went NUTS... I love working too much.

Long term I hope to help people manage their money, we all could do better and I love helping others.  I have a firm foundation in Christ and I have some very strong christian beliefs, that will come up from time to time in my view of teaching.

I hope that I can help anyone out there who might need that little push to take control of your money.

Luke 14:28
- Suppose one of you wants to build a tower.  Won't you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?

And when all is said and done

In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’

We have grass

April 22

Our landscaper let us know on Monday (20) that our grass would be coming on Thursday (23).  And of course as luck would have it, it was supposed to RAIN :(  We never get rain and now all of a sudden its like the sky is falling! :D
Chris has Wednesdays off from work and round 10 am I received this photo!
I WAS ECSTATIC!!! I wanted to leave work right then to go see my PRETTY GRASS!!!

A few hours later, they were still sitting there :( I started to get worried.
-we opted to hire them to lay it since the total cost for that would be about $200. Between my bum knee and hubbies allergies it was money that would be WELL spent!

and before I knew it Chris sent me this photo!

ITS IT AMAZING!!!

Then it was time for my amazing hubby to play with his new TOY!

and the BACK YARD!!

Somehow we forgot to get a finished pic of the back yard but I promise to post them soon!!

I WAS SO HAPPY TO COME HOME and see my beautiful house becoming a home on the outside too!!

Because I like to work, I worked with Chris and we added two more strips of grass on the East side of the house.

Grass!!!!!??????........

It's tax day!!! Yeah!! This oddly enough is a happy day for me..... Other then it looks like this outside!!!

We were originally getting our secondary water turned on today then grass this week..... The weather had a different idea!

Here in the desert of Utah we need the water like no body's business..... However I was so excited for grass.

We have a cute little girl at our house and love to.. Yes put puppy prints all over my nice and clean wood floor!

Hopefully I'll have an update soon of our yard... But until then, I'll be snuggled by the fire!

Bidding

After thinking and talking for a bit about sprinklers I got a basic bid for ourselves!

Our builder has some rocks he told us we could buy from him for our very slanted  front yard and had planned to rent a skid loader to put them in place.

We decide to get some bids to get a cost on install of sprinklers.

Bid 1: reference from friend $7,200
Bid 2: well reviewed/reference from supplier $6,800
Bid 3: us w/o labor 6,025

We loved the guy with bid #2. And he also could put in our gate for the west side of our house for about 1k!

We have signed on the dotted line and paid for the first half!

Basketball Hoop

Ever since hubby was little he has LOVED Basketball.  We have talked for years about getting a fully stationary hoop.  I wanted just one that would stay there and we could move around,

however, by living where we do the wind blows ALOT!!

This is a normal vision in our neighborhood.  So my hubby convinced me differently.

At this time of year many hoops are on sale, and Chris LOVES this one.
MAMMOTH 54"...

After we bought the hoop we looked through the instructions.  And started with a big 4ft deep hole by 24 in and 24 in whole.

We had far too much fun!

Ewan was not a big fan of the deep whole, but he is still SO CUTE!!

And found out we needed to buy 21 bags of 60 lb concrete and filled up the whole. Added this kit, which came with our basketball hoop and got things solid!

Now putting it all together and building it!

We had some amazing neighbors come over so I didn't get a pic of that part!

Here is my BEAUTY all done!!!

Planning

Utah normally has a rather cold and mostly dry winter. We normally have a hand full of snow storms and a ton of inversion.
This year utah missed the memo that it was winter. So far we have received 2 snow storms and only had to shovel our drive way twice. "Knock on wood, it is sill only April!"
Sadly back east they have been hammered with snow... And we don't have much water for the year.... However all that aside it has made some interesting events for us in our new home!!
We have our whole house surrounded by dirt.... With 2 little boys and a pup they love the dirt... And their favorite part is to play and being some inside! :)

We started the bidding processes to get our yard landscaped a few weeks ago!

Step 1: take a drawing to a local supply store for bid on materials!

After a week of waiting we heard back that peices alone were about $1700!
Then the project planning began!
