Back to school and Office Organization.

As I've stated before I LOVE back to school!! I love school supplies and all that!  I don't know why but $.50 box of crayons make me GITTY!!!!
My oldest is heading back to school (3rd GRADE) in just over a week and I'm ready to help make this the best year yet!!
In the past few years, we have made homework more of a kitchen counter/table process.  HOWEVER I don't think that's gonna work for us this year.  So I'm working on ideas to make this happen!

Right now we have a BEAUTIFUL OFFICE!!! honestly dreams can come true in here!! :) jk

However as you can see its pretty tight and doesn't give us a good space to do some tutoring and team work on homework.  So I'm thinking of new ideas and ways to switch things up.
Here is the plan.  Not sure what we will officially do but this is whats going on in my brain!
Go from this beautiful desk,
Fulton 2-Piece Executive Desk & Return
and take off the extra side and make it this!
Fulton Computer Desk

Am I CRAZY? I'm not totally sure I'm doing that,... but I think i am!!! I'm gonna try that and see how that works first.  I'm not even sure the desk will allow me to do that! but I think that will give me a big open space to try!

Im excited to see how that works out!!
and as we get closer to school starting we will be building a wall for studying and help with getting everything done!!

Clothes

Step One of tidying up is cleaning out the clothes she starts by taking all of the clothes in the home and placing them in one spot for me this just was not going to happen (with the boys, I felt it was necessary to do one person at a time) so I started with my room however if anyone knows me I am not a close person like at all!! I really don't care about clothes I wear them out of necessity and I have some great family members that make sure I stay clothed. (Thanks mother in law!)
She says to take your clothes and choose to put them back rather then choose to take some out it's the great starting point and because I have so few it was relatively easy to get my clothes finished then onto my boys really Chris is on his own for this project idea we go through clothes quite often however that really has to be his thing not mine so getting onto The little boys Liam's clothes are pretty much easy to go through they all pretty much fit and it was just a matter of doublechecking and folding at first I was not sure about her folding method it's some of them seemed a little crazy, but I decided to give it a try and see what Happens. on the other hand ewan has a huge amount of clothes and a very small dresser I kept all the clothes that I had with Liam and let them pile up now for ewan  which is really great for the most part.  I try to go through his clothes regularly and have a great neighbor across the street that I can drop boxes and bags off to that will get used as well so his clot his dresser was a little bit more in depth at first like I said I was really unsure about fulling I am now change my ways and even more of the stock method I thought as reading it going you are in saying she wants beautiful every socks and not just roll them so it's super simple I've changed I know crazy right so honestly take some time look over the book try things see what you think here's some pictures of my most recent projects and so far I am totally a fan

Kitchen

Step two is the books I think that for me books are going to be a lot more difficult than she says they are. I went through my books not too long ago, athough for the boys that I'm going to need to go through so I decided to skip that step and move on to something else for now I started with the kitchen drawers of been driving me crazy for a very long time I went through them get rid of what needed to and more than anything just got it all done in one fell swoop so here's some pictures I hope you enjoy

The biggest problem I have is that we get lazy and rather then put stuff where it belongs i put it in these drawers.
That's changing now!!

The life-changing magic of tidying up

Sadly this book did NOT help with the Magic of how to clear my driveway!  Needless to say there are some other fantastic Ideas in here.

This is going to be a slow going process of me cleaning out my house one step at a time.  "Rome wasn't built in a day" Therefore Barber Dream House, will not be organized in one either!
This book has been all over the internet for the last year or two.
I love to blog stock, and play on pintrest so I saw different things.
-You should thank your clothes and send them on their way.  Is it a bad sign that I didn't see that as odd ?

Maybe I should be tested

My sweet Chris gave it to me for christmas,  no he is not giving me a hit, I asked for the book, and no hit was necessary I know I have a hard time getting rid of things.

When Chris and I first got together he used to tease me all the time.  THROW IT AWAY. Was a normal phrase he told me when I wasn't sure what to do with something. We have come along way.  But if you look back to these images.

IMAGE OF MOVING VANS

We have a PROBLEM.  2 moving trucks. Granted we did have a pool table taking up the majority of one, but still NO GOOD.

Knowing we plan to make this our FOREVER HOME also makes me realize I better start purging now or our stuff will over run us, and quick.

I honestly LOVE the book.  I know there are things that I am going to struggle with as I go through step by step, but I know it is for the best and I will end with a beautiful home that I can keep clean and tidy by just doing a few things everyday!

Bookcases are for books!

This new fashion of beautiful bookcases has taken over and I love it. Sadly I have way too many books for my bookcase.
I decided since I just beautified the desk time to move onto the bookcase. I took a pic and started with the books and went through them. I was raised in a book family. Books are the stories of life. My parents have been gifting my boys books for years and we are super blessed and love them. Now we just need a good place for them.

Chris has always hated that I had mis NON books on our bookcase. Binders are not books.
I searched pintrest for pin worthy bookcase images however no matter how many I looked at, ideas were great, but I need my bookcases to hold books!!

Here is my book case reveal!!! Nothing fancy. But I love that it holds all my books.
I have two small shelf's in the boys room for books and I have many other ideas floating through my head.

I'm not the style one of the family. Doesn't mean I don't try. For now I don't have any big plans for the  rest of the room. Other then keeping it a beautiful peaceful organized place to keep the work successful and hopefully a new computer in the near future.

I love how even though it really hasn't changed much at ALL, but I LOVE that I went through them and got rid of stuff!!

Before we know it I might actually have a full fledged organized house! :D lol

DON'T COUNT ON IT!

Let's try new things!

I consider myself a pretty outgoing person. I have tried a few things in my time, but now time to try something new.
I know my way around a sewing machine. I've done hand work and wouldn't call myself a novice, however I wouldn't be an expert either.
I made this a few years back.

However it's been about 3 yr since I last sewn something.
As I have already posted I want to personalize the boys room so the more I think about that the more ideas go in my head.
I found some nice bedding at home goods a few weeks ago, however at $40 a pop and needing 2, the flame sizzled quickly.

Back to School! Originization!

My older boy started 2nd grade! OMG why does he have to grow so fast?!
On that note there are many things that I try to do to keep live calm and cool....
Also a side note, I had planned to do my 31 day clean out, well that's on pause until Sept!
I have always loved Jen's school boxes she has for her boys! And she just posted a friend's example as well.
This last year I started my own version.  It is simple and easy for days when he is in school.
However now that we are 2 years into the process time to put it into a view able design!

This is my plan!

- I like books that are viewable so I hope to start with 1 in binders and depending on how far that gets me each book will be 1-2 years of school.

Also another aspect I want to add is getting a set homework place.

We bought a super fancy desk from my sister quite a few years ago, and we have yet to get much use out of it.   We have a lap top and that normally lived under the couch in our family room.  However now with both Chris and I studying for very important work tests.  I spent the end of last week cleaning out, organizing purging and making this!!

I am super sad I didn't take any photos mid project.  However it was NOT something I was proud of.  I am now very proud and Love getting to spend time sitting at my desk, studying.  I also hope to have this be a great place for Liam to focus (the kitchen table isn't good for that) and with the piano bench there too it gives a good option for mom or dad to come check on the work.

It is not a huge jump but defiantly a step in the right direction.   BABY STEPS.. RIGHT? lol

I have many other projects for this room on my list.
-getting rid of all the nick nacks
-cleaning off and beautifying the book case

and MANY hopefully not too many years from now, clean out the closet.  For now it is where my scrapbook supplies have gone to die.  Since I discovered mixbooks I just have NO desire to stick stickers to a page.  Hopefully I'll get some motivation for that.  However for now.. Im super excited about my new work space!

A bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils

Yes I am that stereotype!

I love my summers and could bask in the sun all year round. I'm not a big fan of fall, don't get me wrong it is beautiful, but I love my summers!!!! (I think that's why God gave me fall babies! Something to look forward to.)
That being said. I LOVE back to school shopping. Might be the little kid in me getting super excited to get my letter from the school letting me know who my new teacher would be accompanied by the list of supplies I'd need!  I love it.

When my Liam started Kindergarten "WOW" Chris was worried I was gonna buy anything school related I could get my hands on. And worse then that, I was starting my last semester of college that same time! So yes I went CRAZY!!!!
One major plus I have is that Liam is at a private catholic school. That means clothes are limited to uniforms. (Which can totally add up, but I love the used sale before school starts. So far I've bought 2 pair of pants new. Everything else is used). So as much as I might want to buy school clothes, I don't.
Regardless my love is in the notebooks, crayons, markers and planners!
Once again my budget loves our catholic school. At their school they try to keep things very focused and avoid distractions as much as possible.

Which means
-yellow #2 pencils
-simple blunt tip scissors
-24 pack crayola crayons
-12 pack crayola colored pencils
-2 plain folders
-4 wide ruled notebooks (blue, green, red, yellow)
-plastic 5x7 pencil box

For this school supplied crazy mom!! I can't take it I must have MORE!!!!
However I know that the school is doing the right thing.

I love that the kids get to pick their own backpack, and lunch box!
This year Liam has a mindcraft backpack coming in the mail (back ordered put it back 2 weeks, so he gets his last 2 year one for the first day) and I got 2 lunch boxes! Paw patrol and r2d2!!!

R2-D2 Lunch Tote
As I look over our summer I feel blessed beyond belief for the fun and life we have!!!

Here goes another year!!! Yeah!!! 2015-2016

Domestic?

I've said it before and I'll say it a million more times. I'm not a sahm in not a homemaker, but I do what I can!
I'm started THIS on Saturday so i'm trying my best to get things OUT of my house.
Awesome 30 day decluttering challenge. Join the 30 day clutter-free countdown (for free) . Tons of resources and tips to make sure you succeed!
I had originally signed up for it when I thought I would be down with my test..... However that is not the case.  However NO EXCUSE!!
For the past 2 days I have cleaned out from the boys room.  I REALLY want to get onto decorating the boys room. (however that must wait until after I pass my test). But I thought it would be a good place to start.  And even more with the fact that Liam starts school in about a week, we will be all ready for that too!
My amazing sister in law is pregnant with their first little one! And she is having a girl!!!

With that in the back of my mind I have been working on boy bedroom ideas! My goal is by their birthdays (sept and oct) I'll get working on their room as make it perfect!
What are you thoughts?

WAIT NO MORE : Entry

I know it is NO SHOCK, but i kinda gave up a BIT.  I was gonna work on my linen closet this week, which still looks SO BAD!!! Yep here's the truth pic....

However that was not my necessary project that needed to be done. After last weeks laundry room, I realized how badly I needed a place for my kids. Honey We're Home
My sweet 7 yr old goes to daycare each day and they have fun projects each day but he needs alittle motivation sometimes to get up and going.

I started with these two pages of what we are doing and what projects we are making happen.

Then I went through the daycare list and put what he is doing each day.
I had some left over frames that I had some old papers in and decided they should be put to work.
I would love to add more color to this corner of my house, but im not sure how to do that and keep it looking classic, since you can see it pretty much right when you walk in the door.

On the left below the coat rack you can see a list there too, it is a weekly breakdown of what happens each day. And just because we have some summer coats for the boys and my hat!

Not a HUGE transformation but such a great thing for my little 7 yr old to get up HAPPY!

We have also started a fun school project as well to get some learning in his summer days that I cant wait to share.
